Cover Me
I’m honored to announce I made the cover of Khabar Magazine.
Most creators know it when we create gold or garbage. There have been times when I needed to turn something in and recognized it wasn’t all that good. This isn’t one of those times. After I finished banging this out, I was both proud and humbled that I’d accurately captured my family’s unique immigrant experience in America.
If you read nothing else from me this decade, please read this.
(Yeah, we’re only 3 days in, but the Battle of Hastings was arguably the definitive event of the last millennium and it occurred only 66 years in.)
Anyway, an interesting note about the influence of Khabar: when I arrived in Hollywood in 2006, I got a meeting with the VP of Casting at NBC. Her assistant wrote that she’d discovered me in Khabar Magazine.
And here we are 14 years later. I may have appeared for only two seconds on Last Comic Standing on NBC, but I’ll forever be on the January 2020 cover of this mag… and my name will forever be on a check in the Accounts Payable Department at NBC.
Thank you to Editor Parthiv Parekh for the feature. And much love to Khabar’s home of Atlanta, Georgia. It’s where I began and ended my recent Antarctica journey.
