Welcome
Howdy from Austin! Welcome to the November Funny Indian Newsletter.
Hope y’all had a great Thanksgiving. We’re soaking up then sun and watching a lot of World Cup. The REAL football — just don’t tell Texans that.
OK, on to Musings and Updates. Enjoy.
Musings
Defending Dave
R.I.P., Hollywood Improv Founder Budd Friedman.
Truly remarkable that I just wrote his name a few days ago when I released my latest clip (JewTube) from Indian Invasion Comedy.
When I performed that joke opening for Kevin Nealon at the Tempe Improv, Budd Friedman (Jewish, obvi), came back to the green room, smiled, shook my hand, said, “JewTube, huh?” And booked me at his Las Vegas Improv.
I was a small part of his legendary history but it was such an honor.
Thank you for all you’ve done for live comedy, Budd. Well, maybe except for naming it the “Improv”… ensuring confusion between standup and improv forever.
PayPals
We're so grateful for the circle of friends we've built here in LA. We can call it a "circle of friends" or a "group of folks who Venmo each other the same amount of money on our kids' birthdays."
Down the Drain
As of 12 PM Eastern Time today, I do not have a job at Twitter. I didn't work there this morning either, but still. This one hurts.

Umpires & Empires
For everyone complaining about the USA-England tie, remember this:
The last time the US and UK went to the Middle East to draw, they artificially created countries. So, this is a pretty positive outcome.

Kal Penn replied to my email to say it was OK for me to share this. The YouTube version has a laughably low number of views but it did much better on Instagram.
During their 2020 live NY stage show, "Back to School," Mel & Raj showed this somewhat anachronistic taped sketch, in which they play adoring student fans of Kal Penn's, set in the year 1999.
