Welcome
Welcome to the Funny Indian Newsletter! You know how families send out Holiday year-end recaps? Well, this is what I wanted to send…
In August, Rajiv became a father.
2021 marked the year that Rajiv has spent a third of his life in Los Angeles. That’s right, folks: 30 years in Ohio, 15 years in California. All while working full-time in comedy — not selling real estate, not driving an Uber, not designing websites. All comedy. Or in the immortal words of Kendall Roy: “All Bangers, All The Time.”
As of 12/31, Rajiv will have completed his sixth straight Year of the Hustle.
Rajiv hyper-focused on his talk show, What Do You Bring to the Table?, which was featured in GQ India, gained its first investors, and crossed half a million views.
Rajiv finished building his backyard studio and shot 13 episodes of his show.
Rajiv interviewed Lilly Singh, Kal Penn, and the President of Arby’s.
The Washington Post featured Rajiv’s Kamala Harris piece.
Three different agents signed Rajiv: a film/TV theatrical agent, a TV hosting agent, and a corporate speaking agent.
Rajiv launched an online game show, Desi Chain.
Rajiv co-hosted the P&G Alumni Podcast.
Rajiv developed and delivered a keynote on Personal Branding to multiple companies.
We hear Mama and Baby are doing fine.
Scoop
In all seriousness, I’m super grateful for this year. Gigs started to pick up in the past few months, including yet another one for the Trilogy Group on 12/15.

I interviewed Kal Penn for the second time. To prep, I listened to his entire book in one day — it’s that good. Pick up a copy for a bunch of laughs.

This was fun. ;)

The last time Cincinnati was on the national sports stage, nobody gave us a chance. The Oakland Athletics were supposed to annihilate us in the 1990 World Series.
Yep, 30+ years ago. We're not quite as tortured as Cleveland was till 2016 when the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Finals... but it's close, especially given the Cincinnati Bengals had just lost to the San Francisco 49ers (a team across the Bay from the A's) in an excruciating final 34 seconds the year before…

THANK YOU to all of you for your support. You are my true core of fans — I couldn't do this without you. Happy New Year! And just my two cents: Die Hard is a Christmas movie in the same way that Libya is an African country.
Love,
- Rajiv… and yes, more importantly… Harsha & Naveen
